Swisscom Hospitality Services and LG Electronics have launched ConnectedHotel TV, an all-in-one hospitality solution delivering interactive High Definition television, Video-on-Demand and wired and wireless internet connectivity.
The services are delivered through one converged network and one TV without a set-top box, thus keeping hotel guest rooms free of unnecessary hardware.
Swisscom Hospitality Services CEO Leo Brand said: “Technology has an inherent tendency to become more complex. Swisscom and LG have worked together intensively to develop this new IP based solution, bringing simplicity back to the guest room.
“ConnectedHotel TV meets all guest entertainment needs and places no demands on the hotelier: no extra video and data cabling, no retrofits. Moreover, we can monitor the performance of our solution all the way to the TV screen and detect any hardware malfunctioning before the guest does,” added Brand.

A host of guest services are packed into a purpose-built TV screen, which provides an exceptional visual performance supporting hardware-processed Flash technology and streams high-resolution content from a variety of sources including DTT, IPTV channels and the Web, all without set-top boxes.
The developers claim that hoteliers can reduce their CAPEX during the acquisition and installation of the system and their OPEX, thanks to lower maintenance cost and energy consumption by running just one device in the room.
