This is so wrong...one of my client Al Fursan who is the close competitor to Al Tayyar thn Kanoo in KSA with many offices around the kingdom and also has branches in UAE is not listed???? And what about As Sarh, Attar, Zahid who all has more offices than the travel agencies that is listed in this (There is one that has one office)... Question is did this travel agencies paid to be there?

To be fair, I met with Mark in the UK a few years ago and he certainly knows his stuff. I guess he and his team have a quality service and attention to detail that set Arabian Pacific apart from the crowd. Its good to see excellent independant agents showing the way forward with service and expertise.

Abdul & Khaled, you seem to be assuming that 'Top 20' means the biggest. It actually means the best, and does not refer to size at all.

You know what the problem is for the travel industry in the GCC region, people are addicted to corporate a BIG corporates, forgetting that innovation only comes from young private and innovative agencies such as the above, but the Arab would is not yet matured in matters related to appreciating and embracing innovation and creativity. But this is the beauty of tourism and innovation... its global and the public is turning online, and will sure see more new challenges in 2012 in terms of technology and travel products, and witness the failure of corporate systems more and more consumer access is brought to life online.

This list includes big names that are not just about large corporates, its about them surviving the ups and downs of economy, political changes, social trends and customer retention and loyalty. And to be honest, its their innovation, knowledge, creativity, financial efficiency and much more that has got them to be in the market for so long. I like the comments posted here, but this is my view.

This news is not correct ? there are more companies that are old and largest. where is Regency Travel from Doha? where is Mezoon Travel from Oman ? or no one from Bahrain. Mezoon in Oman and Regency in Doha are also oldest and largest as well. I am sure Arabian Travel News missed these people as well. Or did these companies paid to get in this list?

Hi Andrew!!! I was an ex-staff in Regency Travel & Tours in Doha. You are right! the Regency is the biggest travel agency in QATAR ONLY not in the middle east. If I'm not mistaken, they have 32 branches, outlets and including the implants. They always got the award of 'World's Leading Travel Agency' from 2007-2012 as the owner of this company paid for it. I would say that Regency has a good quality of service for the customer only. The only problem in that company, they don't know how to value the staff or employee and that is the reason why they have always hire a new staff/employee (even the new hire has no experience on this field). I am currently working in Al Tayyar Travel Group. There is only one thing i could say, AL TAYYAR TRAVEL GROUP is better than Regency Travel & Tours in ALL ASPECTS. AL TAYYAR TRAVEL GROUP deserved to be on the TOP.
