When it comes to casual dining, the region’s consumers are lapping up all the new outlets on the scene – but home delivery is still a vital money-spinner for such businesses.
Gourmet Gulf Company, operator of Morelli’s Gelato, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, California Pizza Kitchen and YO! Sushi, introduced a home delivery service after seeing strong demand.

“Our customers still craved our food at times whenever it was impossible for them to get out of their workplace or home,” explained regional marketing director Antoun Abou Jaoude.
Wagamama and Trader Vic’s operator RMAL Hospitality has seen similar demand, according to vice president strategy Tiina-Maija Bergman.
“Meal deals are pretty much an expectation nowadays, and we are doing very well with deliveries on this front,” she said.
Another trend the operators flagged up was for healthy meal options. Abou Jaoude noted: “The demand for healthy food is driven by the rising affinity to embrace healthy and natural lifestyles.
“We have recognised this trend and introduced healthy options across all of our brands.”
The same story’s true at RMAl — although Bergman said she felt there was still a way to go before the often health-associated organic trend took off.
“Some customers do ask about healthy options, which we offer. At the moment we do not offer organic options though, and unless upcoming studies show otherwise, that is not the direction for Wagamama in the short run,” she said.
