The winners of the Gulfood Awards 2011 were announced last night at a gala dinner held following the show’s first day at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in Dubai.
An international panel of industry experts judged the 150 entries against criteria that emphasised genuine innovation and added value.
FoodBev Media group editorial director Bill Bruce hosted the ceremony, while Ishta Nyakoojo from Bateaux Dubai presented the awards to the winners from each of the 14 categories.

An extra award for innovation was especially created to recognise the achievement of Australian start-up business Flexsil-Lid Pty Ltd, inventor of a silicone lid designed to replace cling-film and foil for use in both trade and retail kitchens.
FoodBev’s Bruce said: “With entries from more than 23 countries across the globe, the quality and breadth of this year’s entrants to the Gulfood Awards makes it clear that not only is it the largest and most important food trade exhibition in the world, but it is also the most international.”
