The Middle East’s first children’s fitness facility from global youth fitness brand Shokk is set to open this summer at a luxury hotel in Dubai.

The Shokk Youth Activity Centre at Madinat Jumeirah has been designed for children aged seven to 16 years old and will offer a full range of carediovascular and strength training equipment.

It has been developed in partnership with Dubai-based sports and leisure solutions provider Raymond Sport, distributor of exercise brands such as Precor, Body Bike and Altitude Training Systems.

Shokk founder and managing director Jonathan Williams said: "As an organisation SHOKK has now over 120 UK facilities and eight overseas territories already operational. We are excited about the prospect of entering the UAE market with Raymond and promise a unique experience to everyone willing to be ‘shokked’”.

Raymond Sport managing director Raymond Kelly said the launch was well-timed to help tackle the challenging obesity rates in the UAE.

“It’s time for a ‘shokk’,” said Kelly. “Educating young people to appreciate the importance of regular physical activity, healthy eating and a balanced lifestyle is the only way we to tackle the growing obesity issue facing this country. It’s why I am proud to be in the fitness industry.

“SHOKK already has a globally recognized youth fitness concept so teaming up with them was an easy decision.”

Shokk is also scheduled to open a second facility in Qatar later this year.
