Dubai Travel and Tour Agents Group (DTTAG) has launched new drive for “affiliate members” in a bid to fund its travel agent training programmes which are offered free to all members.

Membership of the trade body has mushroomed to over 70 travel agencies over the past year as a growing number of travel agents look to take up the free training programmes - over 200 agency staff have taken DTTAG sponsored courses in the past year.

Affiliate members pay AED1,000 per year and benefit from the opportunity to strengthen links with Dubai’s travel trade and promote their products to members of DTTAG. According to Leo Fewtrell, general manager, DTTAG who is the pioneer behind the scheme, many tourism boards and airlines have already expressed an interest to work more closely with the trade, and companies already signed up are: Dubai Mall; United Airlines: Holiday Guard Insurance; TRS Training Institute; Mezze Associates, Jebel Ali Hotel Group.

Fewtrell said he expected to see membership increase as a result of the scheme: “DTTAG members will benefit from the increased staff training that will be offered courtesy of the affiliate fees. We believe this latest initiative will persuade other agents to join in order to take advantage of the B2B opportunities this will provide as well as increased training opportunities given the increased funding for DTTAG.”
