Footage has emerged of the moment an Emirates plane was struck by lightning as it made its descent into London’s Heathrow airport.

The Airbus A380 landed just minutes later, with more than 500 passengers and crew intact, and not a scratch on the plane — despite the bolt of lightning smashing in to the roof, right above the pilots’ heads.

According to experts, planes can withstand a lightning stroke and are designed to act as conductros — protecting the passengers inside.

The footage was captured last month in South West London by photographer Chris Dawson, who said he thought the weather conditions that day would be perfect for a lightning storm.
