UAE-based Shakespeare and Co has signed franchise agreements in Bahrain, Lebanon, India and Qatar.
The café-restaurant’s Victorian ambiance has proved popular with clients despite “the numerous global franchises and diverse F&B concepts available in the UAE”, said director of sales and marketing Suzanne Blake.
“This is a challenging market, yet, Shakespeare and Co.’s formula meets a highly sought-after niche in the UAE F&B sector, which can be translated to other markets,” she asserted.

“With this in mind, we are confident that our newly-signed international franchisees will be successful in their implementation of the concept outside the home country. ”
Within the UAE, the management plans to open four more outlets in 2011. Scheduled for June 2011, the first outlet in Al Ain will open in the Al Ain Mall.
Later in the summer, another outlet will be opened in Guardian Towers in the center of the capital, Abu Dhabi. In early October an outlet will open in Dubai Marina Mall to accommodate the fast-growing Marina, JLT and JBR area. Additionally in October, a location in Dubai Arabian Ranches is scheduled to open its doors.
The Shakespeare and Co. concept, launched in Dubai in 2001, is composed of four modules: the café-restaurants, floral creations, patisserie and catering.
