The Ivy will open at Jumeirah Emirates Towers a week today, operator Jumeirah Restaurants has confirmed.

Located on the ground floor of The Boulevard — in the space formerly occupied by Scarlett’s — the outlet will be the second Ivy-branded restaurant in the world.

The team behind the restaurant — a partnership between Ivy-owner Caprice Holdings and Jumeirah Restaurants — are confident the Dubai outlet will emulate “the ambience, the service and the food style” of the original Ivy in London’s West End.

“People sometimes say that the service is more submissive in Dubai than people are used to in many other countries, but we have recruited many of our team from London and we are going through six weeks of training to make sure everyone is up to speed,” said The Ivy Dubai general manager Sunil Kumar.

Caprice Holdings CEO Des MacDonald said the service was critical to the Ivy experience.

He explained: “The DNA of The Ivy is the menu, the design, the training and the staff. We are bringing in key managers, support staff, chefs and a maitre d’ all from London. They have all worked for us before and we are keeping the menu the same as well”.

The Ivy Dubai is designed by Martin Brudnizki and will feature a private dining room and 60-seat terrace.

The menu, developed with ex-Zuma chef Colin Clague in Dubai, is described as “brasserie-style” with dishes including shepherd’s pie, Dover sole and Scandinavian iced berries with hot white chocolate sauce.

According to Jumeirah Restaurants managing director Phil Broad — who was instrumental in the tie-up with Caprice Holdings — The Ivy “is set to become a landmark in Dubai”.

“Similar to The Ivy in London, we are confident that delivering a gourmet experience and great value for money will keep our customers coming back to the Dubai restaurant,” asserted Broad.

The Ivy will be a sister restaurant to Rivington Grill at Souk Al Bahr in Dubai, another joint venture between Caprice Holdings and Jumeirah Restaurants.
