A new water park has opened in Abu Dhabi this week in time for the Eid holidays.

Murjan Splash Park is located in Khalifa Park and features a children's play area complete with shallow pools and four small waterslides, a giant tipping bucket, crawl tunnel, water guns, water umbrella, and water showers.

Visitors can also look forward to a 257-metre long lazy river, four trampolines with harnessesand the opportunity to pilot their own dhow in the radio-controlled 'Dhow Derby.'

Engineer Abdullah Al Shamsi, acting executive director of Infrastructure and Municipal Assets, described the water park as a "pioneering project" for Abu Dhabi.

"The Splash Park comprises of an adventure land fitted with water fixtures, convenient areas for play, and fun as well as outlets for selling foods and other products and comfortable sitting areas.

"Exciting underwater events are in place highlighted by jellyfish, multi-coloured umbrellas and aquatic creatures as well as staggering theatrical lighting and sound-systems which create an interactive multi-fun environment for all family members," said Al Shamsi.
