Abu Dhabi International Airport has reported 14% growth in passenger traffic in August over last year’s figures, reaching 1.09 million.

The double-digit growth recorded was attributed to the healthy growth of all airlines operating at the airport, also supported by the Eid holiday. One of the fastest growing airports in the region, Abu Dhabi has been growing by 12.2%, during the first eight months of 2011.

London, Jeddah, Doha, Bangkok, and Manila were the top five routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport during August, generating 21% of the total passenger traffic. The top regions for the month were Far East, Middle East and Europe with 37%, 25% and 22% growth respectively.
