Four finalists will be selected to compete in a live cook-off on November 15 at the Miele Gallery on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Here they will each cook a four-course meal for an expert judging panel and 25 Time Out readers, in front of a live audience.
“Dubai is shaping up to be the culinary capital of the world,” said Time Out GCC publishing director Zoe Cooper-Clark. “With continued high-profile openings, and more than a thousand restaurants spanning the spectrum of world cuisines, the food scene here in Dubai only gets more exciting. Our event celebrates, and seeks to reward, the next generation of young culinary talent in the city, with decisions based on strict criteria that take into account the whole delivery of their menu, from the creativity, flair and the skills of the chef to the service, timing and attention to detail of their final piece.”
The finalists will be selected by four industry judges including Uwe Micheel, president of the Emirates Culinary Guild and director of kitchens at Radisson Hotel Dubai Deira Creek; Scott Price, executive chef at Verre by Gordon Ramsay; Becky Lucas, editor of Time Out Dubai; and chef Sudu, certified WACS judge and executive chef at Traders Hotel.
“This event pulls the industry together to celebrate the talent and diversity on display across the city,” said Uwe Micheel. “We’re proud to endorse this event, and we will continue to chart and promote the unsung, young talent in the city for years to come.”
Time Out Dubai Young Chef of the Year is held in being association with Miele and is supported by African + Eastern, The Emirates Culinary Guild and Barakat Quality Plus.
