Mexican organic producer, Bestground, believes that the low glycemic index (GI) content in agave syrup could help bring down the levels of diabetes in the UAE.
The company is looking for a distributor in the Middle East, and was present at the Speciality Food Festival Middle East 2011, armed with tins of baklava made from agave syrup.
Fadi Saboune from Bestgrounds’s sales and marketing department said: “With diabetes levels at 40% in the UAE, we need to be looking for a healthy alternative to sugar. Our agave syrup is organic, and because it is sweeter than table syrup and has a low GI it can be used to generate a reduction in calorie intake”

Bestground is looking for a direct distributor in the Middle East to make it more affordable to consumers.
At the moment the product is produced in Mexico, shipped to Germany or Holland, then sold to France, where it is bottled, and from there it is sent to the UAE.
