Foodmark, a division of the Landmark Group, has added another brand to its Doha portfolio with the opening of Chi'Zen Chinese restaurant in the Oryx Rotana Hotel.
Derived from the acclaimed Zen chain of restaurants in Hong Kong, China, London and Mexico, Chi‘Zen offers popular Chinese favourites with a contemporary twist, and a strict non-monosodium glutamate (MSG) policy. The décor of the outlet is dramatic black with rich red shades that create a vivid, elegant interior.
Speaking about the new launch, Sumeet Jhingan, Foodmark’s country operations manager for Qatar and Kuwait, said: “Chi’Zen is a franchise of the famous Zen restaurants and we are very excited to be bringing it to Doha. We are absolutely confident that Chi’Zen will very soon become a favourite haunt for locals, expats and tourists, just as our other outlets in Doha have with Carluccio’s and Mango Tree, which are located on the Pearl. We are constantly innovating and introducing fresh ideas to Doha and setting new trends.”

Chi’Zen’s extensive menu of fine dining, allows guests to try popular Chinese favourites with a contemporary twist like Szechuan kung pao chicken, calamari and pepper, wasabi prawns, shrimp dumplings, dim sum and seafood claypots. For those with a sweet tooth, puddings include dishes such as mango crème brülée and lychee cheesecake.
Bucking the popular MSG trend of in Cantonese food, Chi’Zen is rigorous in excluding the additive from its recipes. While many restaurants choose to use MSG to enhance the flavour of their dishes, Chi’Zen has worked with head chef Jeff Low to produce tantalising dishes that rely on fantastic ingredients rather than artificial additives. Chi’Zen is careful to only work with suppliers who promote the same anti-MSG message.
