Anantara, the Asian hospitality group, has opened Sir Bani Yas Stables at its Abu Dhabi resort to offer horse-riding lessons and activities.

The riding facility is located next to the Desert Islands Resort and Spa by Anantara, and has the capacity to hold 30 horses.

The launch precedes the opening of Desert Islands Watersports Centre and the Desert Islands Conference Centre later this year.

The facility will offer riding experiences from a 20-minute ‘Beginner Loop Ride and Lead’ to a two-hour ‘Royal Bay Ride’. There will also be lessons available, including 20-minute sessions for children aged five-16.

Laura Jane MacLucas, equestrian coordinator, said: “Sir Bani Yas Stables will make horseback riding accessible for people of all abilities, and allow a unique equestrian experience, from riding along the island beach, to exploring the Arabian Wildlife Park on horseback.”

“[It] will play an important role in enhancing the offerings of Sir Bani Yas Island to international guests, local communities, the region itself and in communicating local heritage.”

Ahmed Al Fahim, executive director of marketing, communications, sales and leasing at Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), which owns Anantara, said: “TDIC is delighted to add this new adventure facility to Sir Bani Yas Island, and we are committed to promoting the island as a world-leading, environmentally-friendly destination.
