Qasr Al Sarab will sponsor the Emirati rally driver Ahmed Abdelkareem Al Fahim for the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge 2012.

The rally, held between March 30 and April 6 will see the driver move from his regular motorcycle to a four-wheel car for the 2,000km race.

Wael Soueid, general manager of Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara said: “We are delighted to support Mr. Ahmed Al Fahim during his participation in this important sports event.

“As a desert resort reflecting the heritage and cultural traditions of the UAE, we consider it our duty to support the young Emirati talents, and motivate them to excel in different areas particularly in the sports field.”

Ahmad Al Fahim said: “As a personal initiative, I started the preparations a year ago by processing my vehicle according to safety and security specifications and measures in-line with the criteria of desert rally approved by the International Federation of Motorsports.”

“I’m thankful to Qasr Al Sarab for their support, which reflects the management’s care and interest in encouraging national cadres,” he added.

The challenge will pass numerous Abu Dhabi landmarks, including Yas Marina Circuit, Al Fursan Club, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Moreeb Dunes, as well as the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort in the Liwa desert of the Empty Quarter.
