Two members of a female drug gang were captured by Dubai Customs after attempting to smuggle 10kg of crystal narcotics at Dubai International Airport.
Suspicions arose after two passengers arrived in a “confused and unstable” state at Terminal 2 from a neighbouring country, according to Ali Al Maghawi, director of airport operations at Dubai Customs.
The two women were closely monitored as they visited the wash room on numerous occasions while waiting for crowds to gather at the airport’s check points, sister publication Aviation Business reported.

However, after their bags passed through the x-ray imaging system, the team of female customs inspectors observed anomalies in the bottom of the passengers’ bags.
After further inspection, secret pockets were discovered with 5.4kg of crystal narcotics concealed in one bag, and 5kg in the other bag.
“Investigations conducted by Dubai Customs’ highly qualified investigators revealed that the two ladies work for a gang that is run by a lady living in a Middle Eastern country. She directs them through the mobile on how to smuggle and deliver drugs,” said Al Maghawi.
“The two halted female passengers along with the contraband, the seizure report and the preliminary customs investigation facts were referred to the Anti–Narcotic Office at Dubai International Airport T2 to take necessary actions against the involved smugglers,” he added.
