Marriott International is set to open its first hotel in Azerbaijan on May 1 under the luxury JW Marriott brand.
Designed by ReardonSmith Architects, the 243-room JW Marriott Absheron is part of a high-rise mixed-use development comprising 16 floors of private residences, serviced apartments, retail and offices as well as the 20-storey hotel.
It is located on Baku's Freedom Square — a national symbol and location of state occasions — as well as the seafront boulevard with the Caspian Sea beyond.

Scape Design Architects was appointed to complete the landscape design, which features stepped and landscaped 20-metre high podium accommodating a series of pools through which water will fall into a large illuminated fountain below.
In addition, the hotel offers lush gardens and restaurant terraces with outdoor fireplaces and intimate dining booths. A modern urban water garden has been created in front of the property providing shade and ambience to the terraces of two restaurant locations.
