Westin Hotels & Resorts is to redevelop the concept of business centres, and will offer small meeting rooms booked by the hour.
Project Hive rooms will feature fully-equipped workstations, with televisions and printers, floor-to-ceiling whiteboards, free internet, and space to conduct meetings or teleconferences for up to four people, with a footprint of a maximum of 260 sqft.
The rooms will be available to book by the hour and at short notice, through www.liquidspace.com. The new workspaces are already available at Westin Boston Waterfront and Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel in the US, but will be rolled out globally through 2013.
Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader for Westin Hotels, said: "The one-size-fit-all small meeting spaces and traditional business centres no longer support the way today's mobile traveller works. More than 70% of business travellers told us that an environment that better supports their work objectives would significantly improve their business travel experience and 48% said having facilities available whenever they wanted to use them would positively impact the quality of their hotel stay.”
