Movenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a in Kuwait has become the first hotel in the country to implement a non-smoking policy throughout its public areas and restaurants.
As one of the main priorities of new general manager Maged Gubr, guests can now only smoke in designated areas, away from lounges and public areas.
Gubr said: “Our main goal is to provide a healthier environment for our guests. We all know that smoking is a health hazard, and studies have proven links between passive smoking and heart and lung diseases.
“That’s why we decided to take action and not wait until a smoking ban becomes the law. This decision was also supported by a huge number of guests’ requests asking us to go for a smoke-free hotel.”
He added: “This initiative reinforces Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida’a Kuwait commitment to being an environmentally friendly hotel and it is also part of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility.”
