The Eid Al Fitr holiday for the public sector will begin on Friday August 17, based on Saturday being the first day of Shawwal, state news agency WAM said.


The public sector will resume work on Tuesday, the fourth day of Shawwal, according to a circular issued by the Humaid Mohammad Al Qatami, Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.


Private sector employees will be given Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19 off, providing Saturday is the first day of Shawwal. If Eid falls on Sunday the holiday moves forward a day, Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash said.
