“The safety of passengers and crew is paramount to the airline. Etihad Airways will notify affected passengers and offer a full refund for unused tickets,” the statement added.

Last month, Royal Jordanian announced that it had suspended its operations on both of its Syrian routes.

The flights between Amman and Damascus and Aleppo were halted in light of the regression in the demand on travel to both routes due to the current turmoil in Syria, the airline said in a statement.

The carrier added that it will constantly review the decision and will resume services to Damascus and Aleppo if demand returns.
