25 Sultan B. Al Otaibi, general manager, Makarim Hospitality Group
Riyadh-based Makarim Hospitality Group, the operating arm of Saudi Arabia Hotels and Resorts Co, was only established two years ago but has made impressive progress under the leadership of general manager Sultan Al Otaibi.
While the parent company has been owning and operating hotels in Saudi Arabia for a quarter of a century, Al Otaibi has been tasked with growing the Makarim brand portfolio across Saudi Arabia.

Born and bred in Saudi Arabia, he is responsible for nine operating hotels, with another signed property in the pipeline — Makarim Mina Hotel in Makkah — due to open in quarter four, 2012.
In the past year, Al Otaibi has successfully opened three new hotels in the Kingdom; Makarim Al Bait Hotel and Makarim Umm Al Qura Hotel both in Makkah, and Makarim Residence Rawdah in Jeddah.
