Andy Cuthbert, general manager, Madinat Jumeirah Conference and Events and Jumeirah Hospitality scooped the Events Caterer of the Year award in the annual Caterer Middle East Awards.

Cuthbert was dubbed a “genius” by judges, who said he fronted an incredible team with impeccable attention to detail.

“An inspiring leader, he has orchestrated a number of high-profile events and many of his students have gone on to secure executive chef positions worldwide. Pressure, he has demonstrated, is no problem after the seamless delivery of one event with just two and a half hours to prepare,” said the judges.

He beat off stiff competition from the likes of Dubai World Trade Centre assistant F&B manager Stanmore Dawson; JW Marriott Dubai’s director of events Thomas Inasu; Al Maha, A Luxury Collection Desert Resort and Spa, David Miras and The Events Centre Dubai director of conference and events Patriya Puyat.

Stanmore Dawson, who led the serving of more than 750,000 people in 2011, was highly commended in this category.

Commenting on his win, Cuthbert said:"It’s unbelievable – it’s so good to win an award from your peers and the industry but the best thing about it is the team that nominated me for this award."

The Caterer Middle East Awards 2012 took place last night – September 26 – at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.
