At least eight customers have filed police reports against Majestic Travels in Al Ain after a member of staff allegedly absconded with customers' money.
Emirates 24/7 reported that the travel agent - named in the paper as Pakistani National Syed Safeer - cancelled holiday packages to Europe booked by customers and pocketed the refunded amount of AED 180,000, before fleeing the country.
Some customers only realised they had been duped when they presented their tickets at the airport check-in counter.
One victim told the paper that he had lost AED 38,000 on a 12-day European tour package, which he was booked to travel on after the Eid Al Fitr holidays. The UAE National arrived at the travel agency to collect his tickets only to be informed that the travel agent had absconded with his money.

The owner of the travel agency said he believed Safeer has fled to Pakistan with customers money. A case has been opened with the Public Prosecution and customers are seeking a refund.
