Holiday Inn Kuwait executive housekeeper Prabhat Shukla took home the trophy for Housekeeper of the Year 2012, sponsored by Restonic, at last night’s Hotelier Middle East Awards.
The glamorous ceremony, presented by Du, saw five housekeeping managers at the top of their game competing for the title.
The hotel housekeeper is responsible for guests’ comfort, as well as making sure their property is spotless and welcoming.

All of the finalists were recognised for being experts at multi-skilling, keen nurturers and perfectionists at heart.
However, judges recognised Prabhat Shukla for his commitment to the job, in and outside his hotel.
“Prabhat is the founder and chairperson of the Kuwait Housekeepers Group. He organises the Kuwait Housekeeping Olympics and Housekeeping Conclave to unite and grow the profession, while simultaneously running his own Housekeeping Academy at Holiday Inn,” noted the judges.
“This year, he’s also redesigned the executive floors service pattern and amenities and developed a skilled multi-task resource to save outsourcing costs,” they added.
Upon receiving his award, Shukla said: "I'm so pleased to win the award this year. Hotelier and Caterer are great for us.These are the things that can help you stay up to date on the industry".
Highly commended in the category was Towers Rotana Hotel Dubai director of housekeeping R. Sivalingam.
The Hotelier Middle East Awards 2012 took place on October 31 at Ritz-Carlton DIFC in Dubai.
