In what will surely go down as one of the most memorable Hotelier Middle East Awards nights in history, the evening's most anticipated award - the Hotel Team of the Year Award - was awarded to Media One Hotel in Dubai.

The team from Media One was presented this coveted award by sponsor Jeremy Vercoe, global account director, Catererglobal; having beaten off incredibly tough competition in this hotly-contested catagory.

Judges said the Media One team had submitted one of the most thorough nominations ever received — complete with a film starring practically every team member —  testament to the team ethic behind the success of hotel.

Other success stories include: double digit F&B growth in revenue and bottom line through team work of kitchen, service and bars; huge increase in all aspects of business leading to a record days of 100% occupancy; 53%  increase in social media followers; launch of recognition programmes for repeat guests; an energy-saving four-month intensive LED light programme; refreshed structure and incentives for housekeeping; launch of internal awards for each department; and a record new year’s eve performance.

Commenting on the team's win, Media One Hotel general manager Mark Lee said: "We were very surprised to win. Being a successful team takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but they’re a very dedicated and motivated team therefore it makes my life very easy. We’ve got a great team of people who roll their sleeves up when necessary."

The teams from Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai and Atlantis The Palm, Dubai came in third and second place.
