Michelin-starred celebrity chef Gary Rhodes will open the Caterer Middle East Conference on Food & Business on March 25, 2013.

Rhodes who has two restaurants in Dubai, Rhodes Mezzanine and Rhodes Twenty10, and one soon to launch at the St Regis Hotel in Abu Dhabi called Rhodes 44, will make the opening remarks at the conference, which will be held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai.

The second Food & Business forum will be attended by some of the most powerful and respected restaurateurs who will come together to tackle a range of issues affecting regional F&B businesses today including sustainable food and its challenges; how to spot a money-making F&B opportunity; the impact of social media, and the importance of good quality food over entertainment and price.

There will be a string of breakout workshops at the event headed up by experts. Topics expected to be covered are banqueting and its potential; F&B revenue management; innovating space to maximise profit and the one that is likely to create the highest amount of debate – whether staff are worth investing in.

“Recruitment and retention were on last year’s agenda but the situation has become worse in the industry and we fear challenges will only increase over the next few years,” Uwe Micheel, director of kitchens, Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek said.
