5. O’ by Okku, Park Hyatt Jeddah
A dry version of the Dubai Japanese restaurant and bar concept, Okku, will soon open within the Park Hyatt Jeddah, located in the Al Furusiyya Complex.
‘O’ by Okku is an adapted version of the popular homegrown brand established in Dubai at The H Hotel (formerly The Monarch), to suit the alcohol-free market of Saudi Arabia.
The Dubai outlet opened in 2009. Soon after, international Japanese restaurant names such as Nobu and Zuma entered the Dubai market. Despite this, Okku Dubai won four gongs at last year’s Caterer Middle East Awards, including the title of Restaurant of the Year based largely on its strong financial performance.
Further details of the Jeddah restaurant are yet to be revealed, but following on from its success in the UAE, O Jeddah is likely to reflect many of the features of Okku Dubai.

The new Jeddah outlet forms part of the homegrown brand’s ambitious expansion strategy in the region and abroad. The strategy will see a new flagship venue open in Mayfair, London —Okku London — and a second alcohol-free ‘O’ by Okku restaurant in Saudi Arabia.
Talks are also underway for Okku restaurants in Cairo, Amman, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Mumbai, Barcelona, Toronto and Las Vegas, with openings planned over the coming few years.
The Okku concept was created in Dubai by the team behind private members’ club brands Pangaea, AvivA and Maya.
