The first-of-its-kind Spa & Wellness Forum, being held at Ritz-Carlton DIFC in Dubai on March 18, will bring together more than 140 of the UAE’s top spa managers to discuss industry issues and share best practice.

Panel discussions will focus on the current challenges and opportunities faced by spa professionals, with sessions including The Rise of Wellness in the Middle East; Speaking the Language of Spas and Business; and The Spa Journey – Engineering a Seamless Experience.
There will also be five interactive workshops designed to enable frank discussion and the sharing examples of best practice in the fields of spa marketing, spa concept development, upselling and retail sales, and recruitment and retention of staff.

The event, organised by Hotelier Middle East, has attracted the support of key spa and wellness companies operating in the Middle East, including product distributor and trainer The Product House, which will be exhibiting brands such Eve Lom, Aromatherapy Associates and Anne Semonin, and health, fitness and wellness specialist Technogym, which is the official wellness sponsor for the forum.

Ahead of the event, The Product House founder Janette Gladstone-Watts said: “We started working in the spa field over a decade ago when there were few spas, few brands and few professionals in the industry in the Middle East. Having used our marketing expertise and being able to take part in the amazing growth in this part of the world (with the potential of the region becoming a hyper-hub for wellness) we are proud to partner any event to promote and support the industry in the Middle East.

“Hotelier has taken the initiative to build on the expertise that now exists and share the knowledge and desire for improving and supporting the spa industry in this region, an objective that we share passionately.”

Gladstone-Watts observed that with “brands growing in all directions, spas becoming more discerning, every major hotel chain being represented in this territory and an influx of professionals joining the market”, there was great potential for the Middle East to become a spa destination.
She added: “Whether it be the development of individual target segments, the image of the spa through creative journeys and ambiance, specific demands such as more medi-oriented experiences, focus on gender, age, income, territorial coverage, support offerings, driving retail areas, there are an unprecedented amount of developments to discover at this forum and in the spa industry in the region for 2013”.

The Spa & Wellness Forum is also being supported by Merchant Star International and Diversey.
