Dubai-based Samuel Creations has been awarded the interior design contract for the Hyatt Place Golf Hotel, Taghazout Bay in Agadir.

Slated to open in late 2014, the property will be the first of nine resorts to open on the southern Morocco coast, comprising a further four five-star hotels, two four-star hotels, a surf camp hotel and an eco-resort.

“Trusting Samuel Creations with the design of our first Hyatt Place resort hotel in Morocco was an easy decision. Their track record in designing to Hyatt standards is impeccable while always remaining innovative,” said Hyatt VP design and construction David Guss.

The property will feature 152 rooms, 20 hotel villas, conference facilitties, restaurants and a spa to a design brief of “understated elegance”.

Samuel Creations intends to lessen the carbon footprint of its design by sourcing materials from the local region. The firm would select materials that are low in VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions and recommends manufacturers that adhere to the same standards of low environmental impact.

Samuel Creations architect and project manager Melden Francia said: “It [the design] aims to create a memorable visitor experience enriched with touches of the local culture whilst being committed to the cause of sustainability. For instance, one of the feature design elements is a mesh-like structure inspired from rural Berber culture re-interpreted in bamboo - a rapidly renewable material”.

Taghazout Bay is part of the Moroccan National Tourism Strategy Vision 2020 — The ‘new generation’ resort concept combines sustainable tourism with a destination offering sports activities, nature expeditions and culture for some 7000 future tourists. The seaside resort will include a variety of leisure activities and a high-end residential development.
