The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai has made a significant contribution to the UAE’s MICE segment according to figures published by the hotel.
The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, which currently only has one of two operational towers featuring 804 rooms, is equipped with more than 7500 m2 of indoor and outdoor event space that can cater for events for up to 1000 people.
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai general manager Rupprecht Queitsch said: “The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is proving to be a pioneering force on a number of levels. The hotel has superb event space totaling more than 7500 m2, nine restaurants, five lounges, a world-class spa, health club and two ballrooms. The resulting benefits for the UAE are clear but what excites us the most is that our journey has only just begun – the potential for further growth is huge and we will continue to target convention and group planners to support the government in establishing Dubai as a preferred choice for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.”

Since opening earlier this year the hotel has maintained an average occupancy rate of 88.2% and figures revealed by the hotel show its top source markets for group bookings to be the UAE, USA, India, Belgium and UK.
The hotel is set to open the second tower this year, which will bring the total number of rooms to 1608.
In addition to the hotel’s recent strong performance, a report by the World Travel & Tourism Council has revealed that tourism in the UAE is currently contributing 14% to the economy in 2012, which is 9% higher than the global average. The WTTC also predicts a further increase of 3.2% in 2013.
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing executive director of business tourism Hamad bin Mejren commented: “Dubai Convention and Events Bureau drives the development of Dubai’s MICE market and the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai has been a welcome addition, expanding our ability to attract large-scale conventions. The hotel will play an invaluable part in the growth of the sector, which we are targeting as part of our vision for tourism for 2020, and our objective to turn Dubai from the regional events hub into a world leading events destination.”
