Yas Marina plans to open its new F&B offering, still under construction, before the 2013 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November.

The F&B venue will include five new restaurants along with the refurbishment of two existing outlets, Stars 'N' Bars and Cipriani. The new restaurants include international eateries Spanish tapas restaurant Diablito Food and Music and Beirut-based lounge and restaurant Iris. An as yet unnamed casual seafood restaurant will join the mix, along with Café d’Alsace, a brassiere-style café and bakery, and Lebanese restaurant Rozanah.

In an interview with Caterer Middle East, Yas Marina's general manager Cedric Le Rest said, "The island has seven hotels and we have signature events like Formula One, which sees a lot of international people come in."

"Everything is on schedule, and [the restaurants] will open at the beginning of October. They will be open before Formula 1 and in time to showcase the venue to the biggest event within the island, and maybe Abu Dhabi."

He explained that in addition to international exposure, there would definitely be locally-based guests among the thousands of people attending the event to spread the word about the new properties.

To further ramp up the presence of the new outlets, Le Rest said the team from Yas Marina has been worknig towards creating a calendar of events which would take place on a weekly basis to draw in guests to the marina.

He added, "It’s very important that we’ve got events that are sustainable and on a weekly basis. People need to know that something is happening here every week."
