The Radisson Blu Kuwait hotel has reopened after a three-year renovation costing KD15 million (US $52 million), with improved guest security measures one of the hotel’s new features.

Speaking to Hotelier Middle East during a recent visit to the hotel, general manager Philippe Pellaud outlined the property’s new security system that includes blast proof windows, an under vehicle scanner, security bollards and security camera system.

“Obviously, based on what security intelligence we receive, we operate under a different series of alerts. However, before the renovation, one of our biggest group business customers was the US Embassy and we are also popular with other foreign delegations, so this is a strong selling point,” said Pellaud.

“Even before the renovation project started we had an assessment carried out by the US military, and that really helped to ensure that we are up to date with our security measures. This is a big plus because it shows that we have this under control,” he added.

As part of the renovation, the hotel has also added the Dasman Ballroom for events, with three adjacent meeting rooms, and a pre-function area, as well as a separate lobby entrance for car access.
