In one of the most spectacular Hotelier Middle East Awards till date, the evening's most anticipated title - the Hotel Team of the Year - was awarded to the Hilton Sharjah.
The team from the Hilton Sharjah was presented the award by sponsor IFFCO head of sales - UAE Craig Finney, after beating off extremely tough competition in this category.
A team of 11 managers, leading 191 staff, have worked together over the past two years to deliver a conversion project that has exceeded expectations. Countless challenges were overcome and financial constraints managed to achieve the property’s highest ever occupancy and GOP – numbers that are way above the previous years.

Having only been under the Hilton flag officially since February, the hotel is number one in the Hilton UAE Centre of Quality – a huge accomplishment and all credit to a strong team.
Commenting on the win, Hilton Sharjah's general manager Richard Gosling said: "Going to Hilton at the beginning of this year was a great accolade for the team and it was just something that we just kept working towards.”
Gosling said that the hotel was very proud to be a part of Sharjah since the Emirate is developing at a fast pace.
“I think I was lucky enough to get the right people on the bus, sitting on the right seats. We bonded together in this conversion process and that made us stronger," he said.
The other contendors for the crown were: Al Maha, A Luxury Collection, Desert Resort & Spa; Jumeirah Zabeel Saray - which was the Highly Commended nominee; The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre; and, Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut .
The Hotelier Middle East Awards were held on October 30, 2013, at the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai.
