Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in the UAE emirate of Fujairah has revealed that the first phase of its AED 25 million (US $6.8 million) renovation is now complete, with 105 of the beach resort's 218 rooms having reopened after a complete redesign.

Key features of the new guestrooms include a Bluetooth connectivity system with the room's flat screen TVs as well as wireless high speed internet access. Royal Club Rooms also feature a new signature Le Méridien Bed and have been fitted with Bose music systems.

Speaking about the renovation Le Méridien Al Aqah complex general manager Patrick Antaki said: "Contemporary comfort and style, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hajar Mountains and the Indian Ocean is what we have promised for more than a decade and this is what we are delivering with our new state-of-the-art rooms. As market leaders, our commitment to quality remains steadfast. The rooms reflect the vivid imagination of our experienced interior designer with a little help from Starwood’s global design office who ensured that they met its high global brand standards.”

“With this refurbishment certain to attract a positive influx of tourists, the future looks nothing but rosy on the East Coast and we look forward to welcoming old guests and new to the resort soon,” he added.

Existing facilities at the resort include nine restaurants, a professional dive centre, a mini-golf course and beach volleyball court among others.

The renovation of the remaining 113 rooms is expected to be completed by the summer of 2014.
