Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah has opened its Japanese restaurant, Umi, which will serve teppanyaki, sushi, sashimi and bubbling sake whilst overlooking the Arabian Gulf.

With 20 years of experience cooking his native cuisine, Japanese chef Kando leads a team of specialist chefs, who will cook beef, chicken and seafood dishes on the open teppanyaki grill. The menu includes Japanese delicacies including Matsutake Chawan, Japanese Honjyou Wagyu Beef and Black Sesame Sponge & Yuzu Chiboust.

The interior has been designed to be modern and inviting, with blackened pillars and chainmail clad walls, complementing the leather furnishings and a floor-to-ceiling chandelier is set within the smaller dining area.
