Spa supplier Sarum Trading, distributor for brands including Sodashi and Neom, has signed up to sponsor the two-day Hotelier Middle East Spa and Wellness Summit, being held from February 10-11 at Grosvenor House Dubai.

The Summit, which consists of a conference, workshop programme and exhibition, is expected to build on the success of last year’s inaugural spa conference and attract more than 300 spa professionals from the UAE.

Sarum Trading managing director Susan Gorman said the event provided an ideal opportunity for networking and education of the burgeoning spa industry.

“As an established supplier to this market, we value the opportunity to further our understanding of the needs and upcoming trends in this fast growing sector,” said Gorman. “We believe that Hotelier Middle East has developed a fantastic platform for dialogue and we look forward to contributing to this industry-wide communication. We look forward to the opportunity to meet with all stakeholders in the spa and wellness sector and hopefully to develop mutually beneficial relationships.”

Gorman said that in such a diverse industry, it was “hard to nail down one particular trend”.

“However, in our area of expertise we are seeing an ever-increasing awareness of the need for value for money, effectiveness of products and strong retail pull,” she said. “In terms of specific treatment trends, we are seeing an upsurge in Hammam and Ayurvedic treatments and a drive to organic and harm-free products as consumers become ever more educated.”

In line with this, Sarum Trading has recently launched two new exciting skincare brands to the UAE, Ayurvedic brand Sundari and a 100%-chemical-free skincare brand, Elemental Herbology.

“We continue to develop the positioning of these brands in the market and we look forward to increasing awareness of them at the conference,” she said.

Gorman revealed Sarum Trading is also hoping to launch two additional brands at the conference.

“We also hope to be able to launch two exciting new brands to the region at the conference —more news on this to follow. Lastly, we have had some real success with the first spa-focused jewellery range — Daisy Jewellery — that is going down a storm with spa-goers across the UAE,” added Gorman.

Of the year ahead, she said: “There is no doubt that 2014 is going to be a very exciting year for Sarum Trading. With a number of new brands being rolled out and a number of new brands in the pipeline, we are looking forward to consolidating our position as the leading supplier of organic spa products in the region. We are also opening up a number of new markets in the GCC and surrounding region, so we will be putting in some airmiles this year!

“Lastly, we look forward to developing our service offering to our existing business partners — we have recently welcomed a number of new faces to the Sarum team to augment our already strong team,” she said, adding the team would be available throughout the summit to share expertise and meet spa directors and managers.
