The 16-day Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival opened at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr with a line-up of culinary celebrities who will be cooking up a storm over two weeks.
The opening was attended by the chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan who welcomed nine of the event’s star-studded masterchef cast.
The chefs included the USA’s Christopher Kostow; Italy’s Marco Sacco; South Korea’s Edward Kwon; Australia’s Russell Blaikie; Denmark’s Henrik Yde Andersen; Britain’s Michael Caines; India’s Sanjeev Kapoor; French master patissier, Fabrice David and the UAE’s very own celebrity chef Khulood Atiq.

Together the culinary line up delivered a ‘hats off’ salute to the event which has been ranked by the Sydney Morning Herald metropaper as amongst the world's top six gourmet festivals.
The opening saw food stations from Gourmet Abu Dhabi hosting venues and chefs from: The Forge, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal; 18° Hyatt Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi; Teatro, Park Rotana Abu Dhabi; Blue Grill, Yas Island Rotana Abu Dhabi; Pachaylen, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara; Brasserie Angélique, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers Abu Dhabi; Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, Café D’Alsace by Royal Catering and The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort.
Entertainment for the evening came via the UAE’s SAMA Quartet – the Emirati Barber’s shop acappella harmony group and Afif Jazz.
