UAE authorities have announced a five-day Eid-al-Fitr holidays for Ministries and Federal Authorities, meaning government employees will get a nine-day break.
Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Director-General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, announced that the official Eid-al-Fitr holidays will commence on Sunday, 27th of July, which corresponds with the 29th day of Ramadan, 1435 Hijri.
Normal federal government business hours will resume on Sunday 3rd of August.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour has declared that the Eid Al Fitr holiday for all private sector employees will begin on the first and second days of Shawwal, with work resuming on the third day of Shawwal.
According to the latest astronomical projections, the first day of Shawwal is expected to fall on July 28.

Last week, The Kuwaiti cabinet approved five days off work for public sector workers between Sunday, July 27 and Thursday, July 31. When combined with the weekends on either side, workers will have nine days off.
Other Gulf states are yet to announce their Eid Al Fitr holiday dates.
