Google has introduced a new feature for smartphones and other devices which will help users get more familiar with the area around their hotel.
The feature detects from the user’s Gmail account where and when they are staying at a hotel; when the user then asks for places to eat near the hotel, for example, they will not need to enter the location or hotel name.
In an update posted to its own Google+ page, the company wrote: “Traveling this summer? If your hotel confirmation is in your Gmail, you can now ask Google for things to do, eat or see to do nearby without the fuss looking up where you’re staying.
“Tap the mic on the Google app and say ‘Show me restaurants around my hotel’ or ‘Give me directions to my hotel from here’. You’ll be finding your way around like a local in no time.”
The feature uses the voice command functionality found in Google’s apps on smartphones and tablets.
