Today’s Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate has been certified carbon neutral by Swiss climate protection organisation Myclimate and Dubai-based Farnek, workshop sponsor of Hotelier’s annual GM conference and Myclimate's preferred partner in the UAE.
Myclimate and Farnek confirmed that the Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate 2014 made “a sustainable contribution to voluntary climate protection by offsetting 5.70 tonnes of C02.

Sandrine Le Biavant, director consultancy, Farnek said that she expected Expo 2020 in Dubai, also a carbon neutral event, to help encourage sustainable events.
“As the Expo 2020 will be carbon neutral, the concept will generate interest throughout the business community which will want to embrace the Expo’s sustainability theme. We have been leading from the front with myclimate for the past three years and our Hotel Optimizer utility benchmarking software will be upgraded to fully integrate the myclimate calculation for carbon emissions,” revealed Le Biavant.

She said Farnek was working on several projects in light of the Expo win, including the social and environmental efficiency of existing buildings and the sustainable design of new hotel buildings through the company’s FM & LEED consultancies.
Farnek has also recently opened a Waste Management Consultancy division to improve industry standards and to help businesses become more efficient and innovative in their approach.
Don’t miss today’s workshop at 12.10pm hosted by Le Biavant, entitled ‘The bottom line opportunities lying in waste management”.
The Hotelier Middle East Great GM Debate, now in its fifth year, is being held at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai on September 2.
