Almost five years after the skyscraper originally opened, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa has finally claimed the record for the world’s highest observation deck.

Develop Emaar Properties has opened a premium lounge for its ‘At the Top, Burj Khalifa Sky’ experience, located on the 148th floor, at 555 metres.

Guinness World Records officials have now recognised it as the new high-point, taking over from Canton Tower in Guangzhou, China, which previously held the record for its observation deck at 488 metres.

The ‘At the Top, Burj Khalifa Sky’ journey offers visitors two stops at observation floors on levels 148 and level 125. ‘At the Top, Burj Khalifa’ on level 124 will continue to operate as usual.

Emaar Properties PJSC executive director - property management Ahmad Al Falasi said: “At the Top is today one of the world’s most compelling tourist attractions.

“With the introduction of ‘Sky’, we are scaling up the entire journey to Burj Khalifa by offering a truly premium experience that will be a lifetime’s memory for every visitor.

“We are doubly delighted to clinch the Guinness World Records title that adds to the glory of Burj Khalifa and enhances the reputation of Dubai.”

Ticketholders for the new journey will begin will have access to a luxury lounge on the lower ground floor before taking elevators up to level 148, where there will be another premium lounge and an outdoor observation deck.

Meanwhile, level 125 will serve as a tribute to Arab arts and culture. Tickets are priced at AED400 and can only be booked up to seven days in advance.
