The Hotelier Middle East IT Person of the Year Award 2014 was presented last night at an industry studded event.
After serious deliberation amongst judges following hundreds of nominations, Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi director of IT/AV Mehmet Akdeniz was presented the prestigious award, sponsored by Arecont, in front of his peers.
Akdeniz was described by the judges as “a guru in the IT World” having created a hub of technology at Emirates Palace, setting up the networking infrastructure from scratch.
Speaking to Hotelier Middle East on receiving the award, Akdeniz said: “It is a great pleasure first of all, this is the second time I was shortlisted, but the first time that I have won the award.
“It is a relief that when you work all the year around the clock, 24/7 almost, and then at the end you get an award like this. It is recognition for what you have accomplished.”

The Hotelier Middle East Awards 2014 was held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City. The event was supported by Du, A. Ronai, Restonic, MLA, Diversey, Arecont Vision, Canon, MMI, TCL, Horeca, Patchi, Pulsar Foodstuff Trading, Amir, and Julius Meinl.
The Highly Commended nominee for IT Person of the Year was Roncon D'Costa.
