Guests at eight Marriott International hotels are currently being given the chance to access streaming services Netflix, Hulu and Pandora through TV sets in their rooms.

According to a report by Bloomberg, it is part of attempts to create a new in-room entertainment service, and comes amid interest from other hotel chains in similar services.

“We have invited leading technology companies and content providers to work with us to design the next wave in in-room entertainment focusing on on-demand programming,” John Wolf, a spokesman for Marriott told the news outlet.

The rollout of Netflix and other similar services in hotels would mark an extension of existing in-room entertainment. Many hotels already allow guests to rent the latest films.

However, as Bloomberg notes, the popularity of Netflix could provide extra revenue stream for hotels, with one scenario being that it is included for free with a premium internet package.
