Chloe St-Cyr, from Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort, has been named the winner for The Taste New Zealand Chef Competition.

The awards were held at Purobeach, Conrad Hotel in Dubai, and were attended by the ambassador for New Zealand to the UAE, Jeremy Clarke-Watson.

The ten finalists competed in a cook-off using ingredients from New Zealand at the ICCA on April 11 2015, 48 hours before the awards event.

Each of the ten finalists was allowed to bring one chef to assist them in the kitchen on the day of the final cook-off. St-Cyr was assisted by Mohamad Infaz, an apprentice chef at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort.

Applauding the win, New Zealand trade commissioner to the UAE Haylon Smith said: “I’d like to congratulate Chef Chloe on her great win. I’d also like to thank every chef that participated in this year’s competition, especially the top ten finalists who demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity using premium New Zealand products at the final cook-off.”

Taste New Zealand provided professional chefs an opportunity to stir their creativity and promote their talent, while incorporating quality New Zealand produce in their cooking. The competition was open to chefs from across the UAE, and the entries were judged by a professional jury comprising industry experts.
