Abu Dhabi-based Global Catering Service has imported a machine called Urban Cultivator, which helps grow herbs, microgreens, vegetables, and flowers in a completely automated indoor growing appliance.
GCS operations manager Alaa Abu Saud said the usage process "is very easy", as watering and light cycles are controlled by an intuitive computer interface.
"In this day and age, we want fresh, healthy and most important but sometimes taken for granted, safe food for our family.
"With food recalls becoming more frequent and now appearing on a wider variety of foods, the right time to start growing is now.
