JW Marriott Marquis’ La Farine, a French bakery and café, has created a pure chocolate cake that weighs a tonne to celebrate Ramadan.
The cake took seven days to form, and is made up of 1000kg of creamy milk chocolate and 10kg of decorative, edible gold leaves featured as hundreds of festive crescents and stars.
The cake is displayed at the La Farine entrance on the ground floor of the JW Marriott Marquis hotel, downtown Dubai.
The gesture instigated some heated conversations on social media, with some questioning the use and frowning upon the food wastage dilemma in the region.
