FCS Computer Systems (FCS), a hospitality technology supplier, has introduced a mobile app which turns your mobile phone into a walkie-talkie, with instant, push button communication capability.
The app is called m-2Talk, and operates on Apple iOS or Google Android smart devices, running on Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G LTE networks.
It can be purchased as a stand-alone system, or can be connected to FCS’s other systems, such as its systems for managing guest requests, inter-department work orders and/or its housekeeping system.
Akina Ho, VP of strategy & global business development for FCS said: “With the industry-wide transition to smartphone, many hotels have turned to mobile apps for job dispatching and back-of-house task management. These apps have remarkable advantages.
“However, hoteliers have continued to express a strong desire for the push-to-talk functionality that their outdated walkie-talkies provided.
“With m-2Talk,” she continues, “FCS simply built a better solution for instant communication. Our solution provides hotels with the instant push-to-talk communication of yesterday with today's technology, combined with a secured platform that only allows authorised personnel to communicate and hear the private conversation.”
With the new app, hotel staff can communicate instantly with each other by speaking directly through walkie-talkie-style conversations on their smartphones.
Its interface is multi-language, works internationally, and operates on a hotel’s private network. Unlike walkie-talkie technology, the app features enhanced security, and is only available by people who have been pre-authorised to use it.
It has a group chat feature, as well as having a history tracking feature that records and stores all conversations for referencing and security.
