The Middle East will receive special attention within UNWTO’s activities at FITUR 2016.
The international tourism trade fair (FITUR), will give focus to business opportunities in Africa and tourism development in the Middle East.
Now in its 36th edition, FITUR will be held from 20 to 24 January in Madrid, constituting a global meeting point for tourism professionals.
A ministerial round table on tourism development policies and strategies in the Middle East and North Africa, to be held in conjunction with Casa Árabe (21 January), will discuss strategies for promoting sustainable growth in times of crisis.

Business opportunities in the tourism sector and the importance of promoting initiatives in the field of sustainability and ethics will constitute the main topics organised by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) at FITUR, with the support of the Fair.
Other relevant initiatives by UNWTO during the event will include the 2nd conference on shopping tourism and the presentation of the global forum on food tourism.
The event supports a growing number of green tourism initiatives and awareness programmes about environmentally sustainable tourism launched by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
